They originally became popular in the 1960's and 1970's with the mini-skirt, then becoming associated with school uniforms and they are now a fashion item. Knee highs offer a versatility with an outfit. For example, if you want to wear a pretty dress but don't want to look too girly, knee highs add that bit of rebelliousness to your outfit. They also make PERFECT festival wear (bit late) as they are great with shorts, and look wicked with wellies!

When living in England, or anywhere in the UK, you must own a pair of wellies. They are essential due to our poor weather. When I was younger I remember having wellies purely for the purpose of being able to splash is puddles, but now they have become a lot more than that. They are worn endlessly at festivals, in the snow and of course in the rain. They have also become a bit of a fashion statement. Do you go for traditional green, or do you go for bright and vibrant?
